Let's talk about JOURNEY...
THE land that I live on right now,
has one of the most highest mountain in South East Asia...
which is Mount Kinabalu. or you can say it Gunung Kinabalu as well :)
Last June 2014 was one of the peak of my year...
where me, my friends and my cousin climb the mountain.
It was the first time for me & Yayeaii (my friend)
and for the others, its their second and third..
one of us climb for the Seventh time and he says it might be his last time.
when I knew that its his 7th time im like, 'wowww....haha!'
I mean, that's amazing rightttt...
Arrived at Kinabalu Park at 7am.
yup, theres my happy chubby face..haha!
I don't remember the exact total package, Im sorry for that,
But heres a thing, to climb the mountain, you must have these tags first,
the management or your leader will give this to you.
Well...mine is BA01(006) hehe.
After they give these tags, then you can go into the van that will bring you to Timpohon Gate.
Here's another thing I want to tell you, to climb the mountain, there are 2 trails for options.
Which is...Timpohon trail or the Mesilau trail.
My friends say that the Timpohon trail is shorter and faster to reach Laban Rata.
While the Mesilau trail is farther and takes extra time to reach Laban Rata.
But, they said this trail has better view than the Timpohon trail.
As we reach the Timpohon Gate, we double check our preparation.
Had a short speech from the Guide.
After that, we start our mission.
Mission to take over the Mount Kinabalu.
For the first 10 minutes, I was like, 'im okay, im okayy' haha
Until that moment I walk... and I see stairs, still- 'im okayyy'
After the stairs, I walk again...
And stairs again...walk about 3 minutes and guess what I bumped into!!!
Ohh yessss...another stairs, this time its extra special.
I think its more than 45degree steep.
At that moment, I was like..
'not okay. not okayyy!'
'abort mission'
hahahahahaha.
But hey, I didnt quit lahhh. hehehe
Going up counting every steps, resting myself for every 10 steps...
It is slow... but yeah it does works...
I won't quit my self.
When its only about 300m to reach Laban Rata,
Its start to rain...as I get further up, feels like it gets heavier..
Thank god i wore my raincoat earlier...
And my bag is waterproof...but my shoe didn't. xD
My feet felt like its swimming in a pool as I continue my climbing to Laban rata..
Until there was a time that I can't even feel my feet...
My feet was soaking wet...and it was freaking cold up there.
Me n Yayeaii reach Laban Rata at 530pm..
Head to the Cafe but my stomach don't feel good..
It's too cold for me to consume any food that time..
Somehow I felt like I wanna throw out. Ugh.
So then we headed to our cabin. it's the to the trail that heads to the top.
The first thing I do when I reach the cabin is..to open my shoe..
Undo my socks...goshhh it gets colder like that.
Thank god my cousin has extra socks...thank you Kak Yah :)
Soon after I refresh myself, I get some hot drinks and eat chocolate..
Ohh thankkk youu SNICKERS. the only food that i felt like i want to eat.
Then I get some rest...Sleep..
2sheets of blanket doesnt felt like warming my body enough..
It's freezing cold but I am beyond exhausted..
My feet hurts...sore muscle..pain whole over my body..
Im like..'I am so not fit enough'.
Everything was beyond my imagination..
Beyond my expectation...
One time my thought was~ 'I don't want to climb up to the top, im too tired'
I almost quit myself...along with all the pain..all over my body..I almost quit..
...
230am..Yayeaii woke me up..time to prepare ourself.
Get some breakfast at the Cafe...
Had cups of hot drinks...
Charge my phone...
And text my family...
It's 315am...time to climb our way up.
Guess what, my shoe doesnt even get better.
Its still wet. huhu
330am...we start to climb up...
Stairs...
Trail..
I see trees...
rocks...
fogs...
rope...
It was dark...
Pitch black without light..
I feel..
Excited...
Happy...
Cold...(ofcourse..duhh)
There was a time that we need to climb with rope...
That area is really steep. gotta be extra careful over there.
Must hold on to the rope no matter what, and your shoe,
They gotta be not slippery.
To the top,
I stick with Kak Yah, Yayeaii and Abg Mek.
While the others, they were already ahead of us.
Halfway to the peak, I bumped into a couple of old people..
They asked me,, 'is it my 2nd time.'
I said 'no, this is my first time here'
And so i asked them 'is this your first time?'
They answered 'its our second..but omg this legs...'
I smiled to them..'come..its not that far anymore..'
The view is priceless...
So breathtaking...that shoe which is so wet, I didn't feel cold at all..
All the pain, I just didn't feel it as I enjoy and embrace the wind of the mountain..
At the top..
I lie down...
Felt tired...wind was blowing...
Somehow I had a short nap up there..
It's the highest bed so far...
(other than sleeping in the airplane)
hehe.
The only selfie up there..
Almost 8am...
The wind blow stronger..
So we start to climb down...
Climbing down takes shorter time...less energy...
Thank GOD.
Reach the cabin, pack our belongings...
Went to Cafe eat some more before we heads to Timpohon Gate,
As I climb down, there are times I fell,
The trail was so slippery..
I was walking fast as I want to catch up with my friend,
The journey was far beyond my imagination...
Everything's so unreal to me..
I can't believe what I have been through for that 2 days..
1st and 2nd June..
For me,
There will be next time :)
Eventhough its very challenging...
Still, I enjoy it..
The view,
Exhilaration..
What an experience..time of my life :))
For those who are interested to climb Mount Kinabalu,
Well don't hesitate yourself...we only live once...
I would say,
~ DIVE DEEPER, CLIMB HIGHER, REGRET NOTHING ~
^.~
